Workshop entitled

Dr. Sarah Lavinia Fath Alrahman, Director General of the Ministry of Health and Social Development in the White Nile State addressed the training workshop organized by the Organization of Gender at University of El Imam El Mahdi in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the United Nations Population Fund, entitled "Safe Spaces for Cases of Violence against Women". The workshop took place in the presence of Dr. Ibrahim Younis, Secretary of Academic Affairs and representative of the Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. Waleed Noureddine, Principal of the university, and Dr. Musab Yusuf Makin, representative of the United Nations Population Fund. The workshop targeted the university’s staff members and students in addition to external members of community who are specialized in the field and community influential individuals.

Dr. Sarah insured the importance of the university's role in the change, transformation and community awareness, which represents the most important trends of the international community towards society. Dr. Sarah had vowed to activate the partnership between the Ministry of Health and Social Development and University of El Imam El Mahdi to change the traditional concepts of all categories of society and, in particular, women to protect them from violence, also, to raise a woman capable of protecting herself and breaking her fear barrier in the face of violence through awareness and trainings.

Dr. Ibrahim Younis confirmed the university's support for such programs that serve the community through the Organization of Gender and community centers in various fields. He then added that the role of raising awareness is a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of the university with the specialized authorities such as the Ministry of Health and organizations working in the community service field and strengthening the partnership with the United Nations Population Fund.

In the same context, Dr. Musab Yusuf, representative of the United Nations Population Fund, declared the fund's willingness to strengthen the partnership with University of El Imam El Mahdi, insuring that it will have great impact on the community by creating opportunities to provide safe spaces for women in the state through organized training and awareness programs by the university. At the end of his talk, Dr. Musab announced the support of UNFPA for such community programs.

Several scientific papers were presented during the workshop.
