Information about College
The Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technology was established by a resolution of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research on 19 April 2015. The college has two departments, the Computer Science department and the Information Technology department. With the expansion of university colleges and the increment in the number of university students, the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology is one of the most important achievements of Prof. Nur Al-Daem Osman Mohamed/ Rector of university. The College of Computer Science and Information Technology is one of the largest computer colleges in the White Nile State, earning a leading position in the state, and at the postgraduate level, registration of master and doctoral degrees began in the academic year 2016-2017.
In this concern, the college seeks to provide a distinctive learning environment in the fields of research and information, to help professors, managers, supervisors, mentors and students to deliver their best, to strengthen cooperation and to work in partnership with Community institutions to raise the educational process and promote scientific research, to provide students with basic skills such as self-regulation, and embrace their creativity and innovation in the technical field and technology.
Study System:
The college follows the approved credit hours system, which is based on the determination of the courses to be completed in accordance with the level determined by the Department for the Bachelor of Honors degree in Computer Science and Bachelor of Honors degree in Information Technology. The College also awards a master's and PhD degrees in computer Science and Information Technology Research.
The program is based on the following:
First: The approved credit hours (based on semesters)
It is a credit hour devoted to one theoretical lecture per week for fifteen weeks (one semester), or each (2-3) hours of practical, exercise or training per week.
Second: Study plan
- A comprehensive description of the student's study program in Computer Science and Information Technology with a set of integrated courses that the student should study to obtain the undergraduate degree (bachelor's degree).
- Practical training in the study plan of the department.
- A final year project with 4 credit hours approved within each department’s study plan.
Third: Semester
One academic semester’s lasts for fifteen weeks, including end-of-semester examinations. One academic year consists of two semesters (first semester, second semester) and is separated by the mid-semester holiday.
