Abstract

The study aimed to examine the investment potential in water production and distribution projects—considering industrial and technological advancements—and to assess the impact of these projects on economic development. It also sought to explore the feasibility of water harvesting projects and their effects on agricultural, livestock, and industrial ventures in West Kordofan State. The study addressed the issue of determining the impact of investment in water harvesting projects on various levels of economic development. Employing a descriptive-inferential statistical approach to a sample of 152 specialists and staff of water harvest and development projects, the study reached several key findings, most notably: South Kordofan State is characterized by heavy rainfall; there is a diversity of specialized expertise in water and water management, which encouraged the establishment of water harvesting projects; and there is an availability of perennial and semi-perennial water sources. .such as the state's rainfall, springs, and groundwater. Consequently, the study put forward several recommendations, most notably: the need to prioritize and harness rainwater; the importance of training experts in water management and allocating budgets for this purpose; and the necessity of focusing on permanent and groundwater sources.
