El Imam El Mahdi University, Represented by the Computer Center, in Partnership with the Wikimedia Sudan Community, Celebrates the Silver Jubilee of Wikipedia

The Wikimedia Sudan Community in White Nile State celebrated the silver jubilee of Wikipedia at the Faculty of Economics Complex, El Imam El Mahdi University, under the slogan:
“25 Years of Free Human Knowledge Built on Collaboration.”

The celebration was attended by the representative of the Governor of White Nile State, the Director of the State Information Center, university administrators, deans of colleges at El Imam El Mahdi University, and representatives of Sudani Telecom.

Ms. Salma Mohamed Nour, Project Coordinator in White Nile State and Director of the Computer Center at El Imam El Mahdi University, stated that the presence of the Wikimedia community in White Nile represents a valuable opportunity for the people of the state and Sudan as a whole to be present and represented in the global knowledge space. She also expressed her happiness at selecting the University’s Computer Center as the coordination hub for the Wikimedia Sudan Community in White Nile State.

The representative of the Governor of White Nile State and Director of the State Information Center, Eng. Ali Adam, praised the Wikimedia community in the state and its continuity in organizing activities despite the challenges posed by the war.

The Director of Al-Imam Al-Mahdi University, Prof. Mohamed El Mahdi Bukhari, highlighted the importance of documentation and enriching Wikipedia with the various events and activities taking place across the state.

Meanwhile, the Director of the State’s Culture and Media Sector, Mr. Haidar Abdelrahim, emphasized the importance of documenting the rich cultural heritage of White Nile State.

The celebration program included several segments that were well received by the audience, particularly the presentation delivered by the White Nile Wikimedia Community, which documented Wikipedia’s 25-year journey and showcased the efforts of the Wikimedia community in Sudan and White Nile State, along with the activities and initiatives implemented within the community.
