Under the generous patronage of the University Director, Professor Mohammed Mahdi Bukhari, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ibtihaj Mukhtar, the Faculty of Nursing Sciences, Batch 25, Department of Community Health Nursing, concluded the activities of the Rural Residency Program, which lasted for three days under the slogan: “Your health is our responsibility; we care for you with our hearts and treat you with knowledge.” This comes within the framework of strengthening the university’s community role, linking theoretical learning with students’ practical application, and serving the community.
The event was attended by the Head of the Community Health Nursing Department, Dr. Jamalat Jibril, along with a number of faculty members and supporting staff. It is worth mentioning that the program was organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Zalingei, Batch Two, Department of Nursing, who sent a supporting medical convoy for the Rural Residency Program.
The program included treatment clinics, a pharmacy providing medications, and health education programs aimed at raising health awareness among citizens and promoting healthy behaviors. In addition, a group circumcision initiative for children was carried out in accordance with medical and health regulations, with the participation of qualified medical personnel.
Dr. Ibtihaj Mukhtar, Dean of the Faculty, stated that the college has consistently organized this program as part of its social responsibility and commitment to equipping students with practical skills, fostering a spirit of volunteerism and humanitarian work among students, and contributing to improving healthcare services in rural areas.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jamalat Jibril, Head of the Community Health Nursing Department, explained that the rural residency represents a valuable practical opportunity for students and enhances direct communication with the community. She praised the efforts of the students and all participating staff in making the program successful.
The Rural Residency Program received wide welcome and strong engagement from the residents of Mahd Al-Nimr village, who expressed their appreciation for the healthcare services and awareness activities provided during the program days.
